Tatovering til TV-Aksjonen - You decide!
Tattoo for TV Aksjonen - What?
Here's what I'm gonna do.
Every donation I get will contribute towards a goal, a huge, ridiculous, NEW hairy target of 30,000 NOK or about £2,500 UK pounds.
I HAVE HIT THE TARGET SO WILL GET A TATTOO!
BUT HERE'S THE FUN PART!
It's like an auction. If you make the largest bid, YOU can still choose what I will have tattooed on my backside for ever, and I will not get to see it until it's done.
English instructions:
Click on the light green button “Støtt Spleisen” on the right end of the blue strip under the banner with photos.
On the next page, choose the amount of ‘kr’ you want to donate.
Then, if you don’t have the mobile banking App “Vipps” (applies to most non-Norwegians), then select the middle, blue button under the amounts, “kort” (meaning credit / debit card).
In the pop-up dialogue box that then appears, please enter you card details, your e-mail address (“Din e-post”), which is used to send you a receipt. Then either choose “Jeg vil stå på giverlista” – if you want your name to appear in connection with you donation, or select “Jeg vil være anonym” – if you want to remain anonymous.
Then click on the green button with “Betal <amount you have selected>”, to complete the donation.
Thank you so much!
Bids close 19:00 local time on Sunday 18th October. thanks
So, are you in? So please, give whatever you can to this cause, it doesn't matter if you win or not as I still have to hit the target! Give me an imprint for life that I can never forget!
Make any bid you can and please feel free to add some ideas in the comments for tattoo designs to inspire others.
Important notes: I am going to try to find a tattoo studio that can help out with the costs so that all of the money goes to the plastic conservation work. (If you know anyone in Oslo that would be interested in doing this, please shout.)
The 'winning' person will be put in touch with the tattoo artist and whatever the decided thing or theme is, the artist will make their own interpretation of that. Size-wise, because of cost, am limiting it to small one, around 2'x2' inches.
Important - it goes without saying that no suggestions that reference bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination will even be considered.
AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
Adam :)
Some important background to this:
Imagine a truck full of plastic. And now imagine that all of that plastic is dumped into the ocean, every minute. Sounds crazy but that's what's happening right now, every minute.
This year WWF Norway was awarded the TV Asksjonen or TV Telethon. It's the biggest fundraising event of the year in Norway. This means that the whole country focuses on raising money towards an agreed cause, which this year is around the incredibly important issue of plastic in our ocean.
Plastic in the ocean is destroying life both in the sea and on land, and as many of you now know, plastic will outnumber fish in the sea by 2050 if we do not do something about this now. 60% of the world's plastic comes from Asia so instead of raising money for a clean-up, WWF's conservation programmes and support from TV Aksjonen will help to fix the waste management systems at the source, with funding earmarked to Thailand, Phillippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.
We need your help. This year, because of Covid-19, the usual door-to-door collection (bøssebærer) is not happening and that means that we need extra support, digitally. Everyone can raise money by asking for donations online.
But I’m gonna go one step further because I feel that this needs all the support we can get.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in my early years by the sea on the other side of the world, and have always had a close relationship with the ocean. I always imagined that I would live my life by the sea and now here in Norway I have had the opportunity to do so, right here in Oslo.
This place here on the picture above is "my zero", one of the places locally that I come to find peace, reset, and I do this many times a week. We know that the ocean is full of plastic whether visible or, like here in Norway with many microplastics, and now can do something about it, if we act now.
The picture of the sunset below is mine from Lovina Beach in Bali, as are the images of plastic on beaches - a beautiful place I spent time in 2016. The beaches are now covered in plastic and even then it broke my heart to see it. I had to answer my then four year-old child who asked why we had destroyed this beautiful nature. I worry about what state in which we are leaving the ocean for our kids. In 2050 my kids will be in their 30s with a whole life ahead of them, maybe with their own kids. If we act now, maybe we can pass on a world that we are proud of and we can at least say that we’ve done everything we can to protect its resources.
Please donate anything you can. Thanks.

Lovina beach, Bali. My wife and I in 2016. But a picture can lie. Only this part of the beach was cleaned. Out of frame was a beach covered in plastic. And that was 4 years ago. Below is what it looks like now.
Further along the same beach.
Same beach.
Not me diving, but you get the picture. I saw this myself too.
Our local beach, here in Oslo.
