Support a new English bookstore in Oslo!
Oslo is an international city with many readers who choose to read in English -- yet there is no all-English language bookstore in the city. Prismatic Pages will change that.
If you have ever spent time (sometimes hours!) in an independent bookstore, you know how special it can be. The recommendations are impeccable, the stores have a welcoming warmth, and there are always more books you want to buy than you can even carry. That is the experience Prismatic Pages will bring to Norway, for English language readers.
Whether you are looking for the latest indie bestseller, an obscure cocktail book, your baby's first board book to chew on, or a new novel to read, there will be something to discover at Prismatic Pages.
This will be Norway's only all-English language bookstore, featuring:
- A curated selection of used and new books you won't find on shelves anywhere else
- Fiction, non-fiction, children's books, and more
- The option to sell your used books for store credit
- Cozy spots to sit and browse
- Events such as book swaps, book clubs, author visits and more
- A selection of Oslo-made cards, ceramics, candles, and other gifts
Who is behind this project?
It's me, Indigo!
I moved to Oslo first in 2014 from the US, and have made this city my home. But I was missing an English bookstore where I could find something new or used, recommended with confidence.
So, I decided to create what I envisioned.
I started small, popping up at markets around the city over the last several months. I've had amazing conversations with engaged readers throughout that time, and it spurred me on to do this full-time. When you come to my store, I want you to find books that I can either personally recommend or have it on good authority are worth checking out.
I know together we’re going to find so many new favorite reads.
What is the crowdfunding money for?
The store has 200.000 NOK of capital invested already, but needs a little more to get started. This money will go to things like:
- Property deposit
- Stocking initial inventory
- Insurance
- Renovations
- Shelving
- POS system and hardware
- Rent for the first couple months
- Permits and applications
- Paying a full time employee until the shop gets off the ground
Can I donate if I'm not in Norway?
Yes you can! If you don't have Vipps and want to donate, here's how:
Click "støtt" on the righthand side
Type in the amount you wish to contribute, then click "kort" (card)
Enter your card details, email, and click "Jeg vil stå på giverlista" if you want your name to show up, or "Jeg vil være anonym" if you want to be anonymous, then click "betal".
If you want one of the perks, instead click one of those and do the same process!
